Accessibility. One of my favorite quotes is from Albert Einstein. "If you truly understand Physics, you should be able to explain it to a barmaid." This I believe sums up my philosophy about teaching Physics. In my career I have strived to make this my number one priority no matter the subject. I believe that the laws of Physics are the basic building blocks of the universe and should be not only studied, but understood by all. In every role I have had in my career I have been an instructor. Even within the explosives industry I was teaching people how to safely use the materials. I taught classes within my builder's club that I volunteered for, the Carolina Pyros, on a variety of skills. All taught from a mindset of accessibility. I have had numerous people come up to me after classes and say "I never knew I could learn how to set up a fireworks show. Thank you!" And when the show goes up, they know that they did that. This continues to warm my heart and drive me to come up with better and more engaging lessons. The ability to reach and teach the masses is what drives me. I believe that the more people you can reach with a subject, the more you can help the world become a better place. After all, knowledge is power!
