About Me

I received my Doctorate in Social Work from Capella University, my MSW from Augsburg College, and my Bachelor of Science in Applied Psychology with a minor is Sociology from St. Cloud State University. Since graduation, I have traveled to several countries as I have a strong interest in learning about and from other cultures. While I tutor a broad range of subjects, I am most passionate about Social Work, and social justice in particular; executive functioning; and adult health and wellness. In my previous experience as a mental health professional, helping students learn new ways to organize and plan and see themselves as capable and competent was one of the most rewarding parts of my work. I also taught social work and interpersonal relations at a university and loved watching the students grasp new concepts and really begin to see themselves as social workers or helping professionals. I am a firm believer in the importance of education and the opportunities that can be had as a result. In my work as a university instructor, I wanted my students to be able to think critically and from multiple perspectives and not just memorize terms. I loved helping my therapy clients and my students identify various solutions to problems they or their future clients might encounter, which empowered them and increased their confidence. In my spare time, I enjoy playing with my dog, running, gardening, and getting outdoors to enjoy nature and seasonal activities such as kayaking, hiking, and cross-country skiing.
