About Me

I am a graduate of Georgia State University where I earned my Ph.D. in Cellular, Molecular Biology, and Immunology. I currently work as a full-time Assistant Professor teaching a variety of undergraduate biology courses like Biology, Microbiology, Environmental Science, and Human Anatomy & Physiology. Additionally, I also teach for The Johns Hopkins University teaching graduate-level students in courses like Epigenetics, Advanced Cell Biology, and Genes and Disease. I have taught and tutored many biology courses such as genetics, cell biology, ecology, and immunology. Throughout undergrad and graduate school, I tutored many students at local high schools, colleges, etc. While I teach and tutor in a broad range of biology courses, my favorite area to teach is immunology and Human Anatomy and Physiology. I have always been so fascinated by the human body and the various systems that keep us functioning and alive. My teaching philosophy is based on helping students reach their full potential. I feel every student can learn and grow; sometimes they just need some help and direction to assist them with their goals. I am a patient, and compassionate teacher/tutor who understands learning is not one size fits. I have more than thirteen years of teaching in higher education. I have completed continuing education in inclusive pedagogy and enjoy working with all types of students. In my free time, I enjoy reading, listening to podcasts, walking/hiking, playing with my dog, gardening, working on my aquariums, and cooking.
