About Me

I am a graduate of The Citadel and Temple University. At the former, I earned my Bachelor of Arts in History with a minor in Foreign Languages (German and Russian). At the latter, I earned my Master of Arts in German. I also completed the Teachers for Secondary Schools Program at the University of Southern Maine. As a life-long learner myself, I am passionate about learning and teaching. It is with great personal satisfaction that I have been able to help many students reach their personal goals. In my work with high school students, I have been successful in preparing them to excel in History or German in college. Many of my adult learners have been faced with the daunting experience of having to relocate to a German-speaking country and I have prepared them to thrive in a new culture with a new language. Regardless of the subject that I teach or tutor, I believe in a direct, hands-on approach that actively engages the students' interests, helping them build self-confidence, while steadily improving their skills and knowledge. As I have lived in Europe and have traveled extensively in several parts of Europe, both European History and German Language and Culture are my favorite subjects to share with students. In my free time, I enjoy reading, stamp- and coin-collecting, hiking, biking, and volunteer work.
