I am a member of the LGBTQ community, and I would love to teach and support other students in that community. I am an experienced teacher - from High School Math (Algebra I) to first grade phonics. I enjoy helping students discover they can understand a concept that had been confusing before. I coach volleyball at the eighth grade level, and have done so for more than ten years - it's a great activity to develop confidence and teamwork. I come from a large family- -12 brothers and sisters - and like to make people laugh. Even when we are doing homework! I always find out what the student knows, and what might be confusing before starting to tutor. I often find that we can get a quantum leap in performance if we inspect the little things.

I am a recent law school graduate and am currently studying for the bar before I begin my federal clerkship. I graduated from Northwetern Pritzker School of Law in May 2021 and received my B.A. in political science and journalism from the University of Mary Washington in 2015. Before law school, I spent the past three years working at a law firm and for a labor movement organization (while studying for the LSAT and applying to law school, of course)! While at UMW I led the university student newspaper and worked at our Communication Center where I tutored in public speaking, writing, interview prep and presentation prep. Throughout my time there I was promoted to Lead, where I trained other tutors and assisted in classroom curriculum. I tutor in writing, essay editing and reading comprehension. I also tutor in some law school courses, political science/government courses in American History. I love working with students, specifically working with students on subject confidence and independent learning goals!

I am a recent graduate of Temple University in Philadelphia, PA where I earned my Bachelors Degree of Business Administration. I was an accounting major and an MIS minor and currently work in a staff accountant role while I continue to study for the CPA exams.Throughout high school and college, I tutored many students and friends in a variety of business classes. My favorite subject to tutor is accounting, but I also enjoy helping others learn finance, economics, and even MIS.In my free time I enjoy biking around the country, playing basketball, reading, and teaching accounting.

I am currently a freshman neuroscience major at the University of Illinois at Chicago in the B.S./M.D. GPPA Medicine Program. I am a member of UIC's Speech/ Forensics Team, a writer for Journal for Pre-Med Affiliated Students, and a research assistant in the neurobiology department at the University of Illinois College of Medicine.I tutor all sections of the ACT, high school Biology, Chemistry, and Physics, English/Reading, Literature, essay/college application editing, and middle school/elementary school tutoring. I enjoy working with students of all ages ranging from early elementary school to seniors in high school.In my free time I enjoy reading, running, camping, and exploring the great city of Chicago.

I received my bachelor's degree from Butler University in 2011. I am currently completing graduate study in musicology at the University of Illinois. My research focuses on hip hop music and political life in Morocco. When I am not pursuing my own project, I am usually teaching. I have served as a graduate teaching assistant for U of I's Introduction to World Music course for two years. Before attending graduate school, I worked as a certified substitute teacher for K-12 general and special education in Michigan. I also volunteered as a literacy tutor with the Family Learning Institute in Ann Arbor, MI. While I am comfortable tutoring in a wide range of humanities and language arts subjects, I am most passionate about teaching English and reading comprehension. I believe students' advancements in these subjects positively impact all other academic areas. Every student can build confidence in reading and writing, and have fun doing it. I see education as a collaborative effort and I work to bring my students' personal perspectives into our lessons. Watching a student learn new things is exciting, but seeing them recognize the power of their own knowledge and experiences is even better! In my spare time, I enjoy making and listening to music of all kinds, reading and writing science fiction, running long distances (slowly), and spending a lot of time outdoors.

As a student who is truly passionate about Math and Science, I seek to help others understand Calculus, Physics, Chemistry, etc, so that their foundation in the sciences is strong enough to take on more complex topics. I believe in letting my teaching style be dynamic in order to teach different students successfully.
