I earned my B.A. in Linguistics with a minor in French from the University of Virginia, and completed an M.A. in Applied Linguistics with an emphasis in Sociolinguistics at Old Dominion University. While completing my M.A., I was a teaching assistant for a Rhetoric and Composition course, and tutored undergraduate students. Since then, I have taught French in Virginia Beach City Public Schools for three years. Currently, I tutor French and English Composition, and enjoy both equally. I believe that learning happens best when teachers, tutors, and students are all inspired, and so I work to incorporate students' interests and personal objectives into every session.

My motivation:I love the feeling of when "something clicks", and I want to help other people achieve that feeling. To me, tutoring is fun and rewarding.Why I think I'm a great tutor:I'm not one of those geniuses you had in class that gets everything instantly. I've been in the place of a normal student. I know that creative perspective and hard work are key for understanding math. To get to the graduate level in math I was forced to look at basic topics from different perspectives. This gives me incite into the difficulty students sometime have picking up concepts. I've been there. So, I aim create interest in the subject and provide different ways to look at the subject matter.My personality:I'm really easy going and try to find the humor in everything. I played sports (football and baseball) all throughout my childhood, and spent a few years in the Navy (honorably discharged). I love reading sci-fi, I love the outdoors, and I love anything positive really.

I am a recent college graduate from Columbia University with a lot of experience in research and writing. My major was Human Rights and I am passionate about the issues that I engage with. I received my associate's degree from Bergen Community College in 2014 and my Bachelors from Columbia in 2017. At Bergen Community, I worked in the tutoring center focusing on assisting students with writing in any subject. I also tutor English and the SAT.

I have obtained a Bachelor's degree with a double major in Spanish and French at the University of South Alabama, where I tutored college students in Spanish for three years and French for one year. I also fill in for Spanish professors at South Alabama and tutor high school students and adults in both languages on the side.My style is very interactive, and I focus on challenging students to be able to produce the language on their own, not just telling them how it works, so that they can be ready for whatever exercises their tests may throw at them!I have lived in France for six weeks, and been to Spain and Chile as well, so I love to travel! I also enjoy playing and watching tennis, and making music with production software and synthesizers.
