Students begin to communicate in the target language through interpersonal speaking and writing, presentational speaking and writing, and interpretive reading and listening. Listening and speaking are emphasized. This class is conducted in Japanese as much as possible. Students will be introduced to the two sets of Japanese characters; hiragana and katakana. Students will explore Japanese culture and geography through videos, movies, music, art, guest presenters, games, and other activities.
