Winters Mill High – Digital Media and Design

This honors level course is an upper-level art course which focuses on the digital creation of visual content in commercial arts and the role of designer in a business environment. Design prompts give students a comprehensive, multidisciplinary approach to media creation that fosters individual exploration and innovative thinking. This course exposes students to professional-level software used for graphic design, photography, animation, video editing, and related fields. Students learn current design trends, experience contemporary commercial platforms, and develop socially and culturally relevant works, while solving client-centered, real-world problems through visual communication intended to impact a global audience. The teacher will foster an environment that supports students as conscious creators, and facilitates growth of personal vision, personal aesthetics, and self-exploration. Successful completion of this course will develop the student’s foundation portfolio in preparation for Advanced Placement 2D Art & Design.
Prerequisites: Successful completion of Art I or recommendation of the art instructor is a prerequisite. This course meets the prerequisite for Print Production and Video Production at CCCTC.
