This course invites students to explore the wonders of the universe beyond our planet. Students will investigate the structure and evolution of the universe—from planets, moons, and stars to galaxies, black holes, and cosmology. Using hands-on activities, astronomical data, and interactive simulations, students will engage in science practices to expand their understanding of the physics of space, including gravity, orbital mechanics, electromagnetic radiation, and stellar life cycles. The course will emphasize scientific inquiry and critical thinking by exploring how astronomers collect and interpret data using telescopes, spacecraft, and other tools. Special emphasis is placed on current topics in space exploration, exoplanet detection, and the role of technology in modern astronomy.

Prerequisites: Biology; Chemistry of Earth and Space Science; Conceptual Physics OR AP Physics 1.
