Winters Mill High – Food Service Professional I

This course provides an introduction to the food service and hospitality industry. Students develop and demonstrate skills in safe and sanitary food handling and preparation techniques. Students learn to prepare a variety of foods and develop a broad understanding of the variety of career options available in this industry.
Prerequisites: Introduction to Foods is a prerequisite. This is the first course of a four credit career and technology education Food Service and Hospitality Management completer program. Students will have the opportunity to begin to accrue hours to meet a 400-hour internship requirement through ProStart and earn the ServSafe credential. All students enrolled in this course must take the National Restaurant Association Educational Foundation (NRAEF) Level I end-of-course exam.
