This college level course is a part of the Project Lead The Way Engineering Program. Using solid modeling techniques, this course teaches the fundamentals of computerized manufacturing technology. Students use 3-D computer software to solve design problems. They assess their solutions through mass property analysis, modify their designs, and use prototyping equipment to produce 3-D models. The course includes computer modeling, computer numerical control, computer-aided manufacturing robotics, and the use of flexible manufacturing systems.

Prerequisites: Introduction to Engineering Design and Principles of Engineering are prerequisites. Trig/Pre-Calculus or higher is recommended as a prerequisite or may be taken concurrently. This course is part of the Engineering completer program. Students will take the college level exam at the end of this course. Students who successfully complete this course and the final exam may apply for transcripted credit from Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) and University of Maryland Baltimore County (UMBC).
