In this course, students will develop skill in the use of sign language, beginning with contact signing and working toward proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL). Students will be able to communicate, explore different facets of deaf culture, and identify forces that have shaped education of the deaf in the U.S. The format of classes will vary; lectures, videotape, practical experience, and student projects.
