Multicultural Literature & Composition focuses on texts byand about people of diverse ethnic backgrounds.Students explore themes of linguistic and cultural diversityby comparing, contrasting, analyzing, and critiquingcommunication styles and universal themes; they will makeconnections between works from at least three literaryperiods and the historical or contemporary contexts inwhich they were written. Students routinely engage in theintegrated and recursive literacy practices that ground,shape, and inform their interpretations and constructions oftexts that apply their grammar conventions, vocabulary,context, structure and style, techniques, research andanalysis, and periods and movements understandings. Thiscourse utilizes the 9th-12th grade standards and theappropriate grade-level expectations in Georgia's K-12English Language Arts (ELA) Standards. MulticulturalLiterature & Composition is a core (c) course that countstoward graduation requirements; this course can also beused as an elective (e) credit
