This course is designed to provide instruction to enhance personal development and interpersonal skills for students with disabilities. In addition, this course will provide social and/or emotional support in order to progress in the general education curriculum. Students who participate in the course have documented social and /or emotional needs in their individualized education program (IEP) and/or have a Behavior Intervention Plan (BIP). The areas of instruction for this course include peer relations, self-management, academic skills, compliance skills, and assertion skills. This course may be taught for an elective credit all four years or more, as appropriate. Students successfully completing two years of this course will satisfy the sequential elective requirement for the Standard and Modified Standard Diploma.
