Westfield High – Automotive Technology 1

Students will study and define the eight major systems of the automobile, related tools and equipment, and the automotive industry. An emphasis will be placed on diagnosing systems, developing troubleshooting skills, and the safe use of laboratory equipment. Curriculum is developed from the National Automotive Technicians Education Foundation (NATEF) task lists. Major topics include engine performance, brakes, electrical and electronic systems, and suspension and steering systems. In addition, students will be tested on NATEF criteria.
