Advanced Adapted Physical Education is an elective course available to students who have an IEP and who have successfully completed two years of Adapted Health and Physical Education as required for graduation. Students focus on fitness for vocational tasks as they continue to learn and refine the skills and knowledge to promote life-long health and wellness. Students apply concepts related to human anatomy, physiology, kinesiology, nutrition, and personal fitness planning to achieve and maintain a health-enhancing level of physical fitness for a lifetime. Activities are individualized based on the student’s present level of performance and identified areas of need. Students may not take this course in lieu of or simultaneous to the Adapted Health and Physical Education courses required for graduation.
