1,500-hour training program qualifying students for the Maryland State Cosmetology Examination. Curriculum covers histology of the skin, hair removal, facials, make-up, nail structure and growth, manicuring and pedicuring, advanced nail techniques, artificial nail application, nail art, and salon business skills. Also includes sciences such as bacteriology, infection control, anatomy, physiology, chemistry, and electricity, as well as hair properties, hair design, shampooing, haircutting, styling, braiding, extensions, wigs, and chemical texture services. Program begins in 9th grade. The final 300 hours are completed during 12th grade through a Work-Study Program/internship in a licensed salon. Students must purchase specialized supplies, a cosmetology book, and a complete uniform during the 9th grade course

Prerequisites: Students must earn 1,500 hours of training. Seniors must complete 300 hours in a licensed salon under the supervision of a Licensed Senior Cosmetologist
