West High School – Wellness & Fitness Management I

10, 11, 12 This is an online opportunity to utilize Polar wearables to track your fitness activities/exercises for physical education credit. All instruction is online, and students are expected to complete the course with limited teacher interaction. This course requires self-discipline and time-management skills. The course is identified as an 8th block class to be taken outside of regular school hours. The five health-related fitness components, concepts, and principles associated with the biomechanics of movement and physical activity, nutrition, energy balance, and social development will be stressed. Students will be required to upload videos of themselves performing Fitness gram fitness tests and weekly exercise selfies. Fees are possible if the equipment is damaged during use.
Prerequisites: Student AND Parent MUST attend informational meeting to obtain Polar device before class starts; Meeting time and location TBA.
