Prerequisite for Fashion and Textiles A Principles of Fashion and Textiles prepares students for occupations and higher education programs of study related to the entire spectrum of careers in the fashion industry. This course is a survey of the business of fashion and its careers through design, manufacture, distribution, and promotion. It is an introduction to fashion theory, its products and consumers. This course builds a foundation that prepares students for all aspects of the fashion creation process. Major topics include basic sewing techniques, pattern alterations, and the use of commercial patterns. Students will complete an ensemble to showcase at the end of the year CHS Fashion Show. Students are responsible for the expense of their own patterns, fabric, and notions. This course is one of the required courses for the Fashion & Textiles Pathway. \*\*Students will have the opportunity to earn dual credit through Ball State University if they meet the requirements. Fees apply.
