West Clay Elementary School – APPLIED HEALTH AND WELLNESS EDUCATION

Students are provided opportunities to develop the knowledge and skills necessary to promote their own health and well-being as they mature into healthy adults. This course helps students make informed, medically accurate, and age-appropriate choices regarding their physical, intellectual, emotional, and social well-being. Students are encouraged to assume individual responsibility for becoming competent health consumers. Class discussions, group activities, individual and group assignments, and project-based learning projects are included to develop sound health principles. Community health professionals will serve as guest speakers, and students will receive certification in adult, child & infant CPR.
