West Ashley High – Instrumental Music: Orchestra / Strings – Levels 1 - 4

Students continue a sequential development of skills necessary to become proficient on a musical instrument. The course is organized so that students will learn orchestral repertoire each year and will develop an understanding of the concepts of music and the cultural heritage of the music studied. Emphasis will be placed on the development of good tone, accurate pitch, growth in music reading, ability to perform more easily and to follow a conductor, and an understanding of a wide variety of music.
Prerequisites: Participation in the previous year's program or Orchestra Director's Recommendation
