Washington (George) High – Art 1

Art 1 serves as an introduction to visual art theory and applications, with particular focus in drawing, painting, design, and printmaking. Students develop a portfolio of their work applying the technical skills they learn, which documents their progress throughout this course. Painting and drawing projects will focus on mark making skills, color theory and painting techniques. Print and design projects will allow students to practice creative problem solving and develop their artistic style. By the end of this course, students will be able to identify visual concepts in artwork to make informed judgments about the artwork that surrounds their everyday lives and utilize the elements of art in their works.
