Wando High – African American Studies Honors

This Honors African American Studies course off ers an in-depth exploration of the history, culture, and contributions of African Americans from pre-colonial Africa to the present day. Students will examine key themes such as resistance, identity, civil rights, and the importance of African American culture in the United States today. Through critical analysis of primary sources, literature, art, and historical texts, students will engage in thoughtful discussions and research-based projects. The honors designation refl ects a rigorous pace and higher expectations for independent thinking, writing, and analysis. Students are highly encouraged to take the AP African American Studies Exam at the end of the year.
