This course supports students in earning the Emergency Medical Responder, Firefighter I, Firefighter II, and/or Hazardous Material Operations Industry Recognized Credentials. Naval Junior Reserve Officers Training Corps (NJROTC) Completer Naval Science 1, 2, 3 offered at GTJHS. The NJROTC program encompasses strong academic course work complemented by extracurricular activities that foster the pillars of character and citizenship. Students in this program complete four courses in Naval Science in addition to their other academic coursework. Completion of Naval Science 2 fulfills the state Personal Financial Literacy requirement.

Prerequisites: Must be 16 and pass Frederick County Fire Physical This two year CTE completer program prepares students for careers in fire and rescue. Students attend this program in the afternoon. The first year students participate in training at the Public Safety Training Center where they earn industry recognized credentials in Firefighter I and II, Hazmat, Emergency Medical Response, Protective Envelope and SCBA and more. Year 2 students intern at a local Fire or Rescue Company to gain experience to prepare for their desired career in Fire and Rescue. Year 1- Students are required to have their own transportation to the training center. Year 2- Students are required to have their own transportation to their local fire station.
