In the first year of world language, most students learn to communicate orally through selected functions and topics. The sounds of language are learned through situations and practice activities. The students learn to communicate through the three modes of communication: interpersonal, interpretive, and presentational modes in real world situations. Students who would like to take high school Advanced Placement (AP) courses in a world language must begin level 1 by grade 7 or 8. To advance to the next level in the language, students should earn a C or better.
