Valley High – Public Speaking – Alternate

Public Speaking offers student activities and experiences that help to develop skills in oral communication, critical thinking, accessing information, and writing. Students understand and use the stages of speaking for various purposes, including personal, career, and social. Emphasis is on achieving clarity and confidence when speaking to others. This course does not cover the breadth and depth of the Public Speaking course. This course is designed to facilitate learning outcomes appropriate to the student's instructional needs as documented in the Individualized Education Plan (IEP). This course DOES NOT meet the state graduation requirements.
Prerequisites: Students who qualify for the Alternate Standards in grades 11 and 12.
