Valley High – Foundations of Technology – Alternate

This course provides the fundamental knowledge and hands-on learning experiences for all students to advance their technological literacy. This class will focus on the study of the designed/human-made world. A technologically literate citizen can understand, use, manage, and assess technological products and processes. In this course, students will acquire knowledge and complete activities in the following areas of the designed world: agricultural and biotechnology; information and communication technology; manufacturing and construction technology; and power, energy, and transportation technology. Students will also learn about the nature of technology, technological impacts, engineering design process, core technologies, problem solving techniques, and technological systems. This course does not cover the breadth and depth of the Ensemble Participation class. This course is designed to facilitate learning outcomes appropriate to the student's instructional needs as documented in the Individualized Education Plan (IEP). This course DOES NOT meet the state graduation requirements.
Prerequisites: Students who qualify for the Alternate Standards in grades 11 and 12.
