V R Eaton High School – AP Seminar

This foundational course provides students with opportunities to think critically and creatively, research, explore, pose solutions, develop arguments, collaborate, and communicate using various media. Students explore real-world issues through a cross curricular lens, consider multiple points of view to develop deep understanding of complex issues, connect these issues to their own lives, and work both collaboratively and independently to explore real world issues. Students in AP Seminar will be eligible to participate in the second course (new 2017-2018), AP Research. Students who earn scores of 3 or higher in AP Seminar and AP Research and on four additional AP Exams of their choosing will receive the AP Capstone Diploma. Alternatively, students who earn scores of a 3 or higher in AP Seminar and AP Research will receive the AP Seminar and Research Certificate signifying their attainment of college level academic and research skills. The district expectation is that the student will take the appropriate AP Exam for each AP course in which he/she is enrolled. NISD will continue to financially partner with families in this effort and bring the total per exam price as low as possible.
