includes classroom instruction and laboratory instruction expandingon the skills taught in LET 1-3. It focuses on creating a positiveleadership situation, negotiating, decision-making, problem solving,planning, team development, project management, and mentoring. Itprovides the opportunity to demonstrate leadership potential in anassigned command or staff position within the cadet battalionorganizational structure. It includes how to use emotionalintelligence in leadership situations as well as how to maintain apositive attitude. It provides instruction on etiquette, daily planning,financial planning, and careers. It includes requirements for thepractical application of leadership duties. It emphasizes physicalfitness through healthy individual and group competition. Theinteractions between groups of people and how they affect the area'scultural, economic, and political characteristics are discussed. Itexplores various methods on determining distance, direction, andlocations as well as environmental issues. Concepts of democracyand freedom and how to influence local governments are discussed.The performance standards in this course are based on theperformance standards identified in the curriculum for the US ArmyJROTC. Successful completion of at least three units of credit in theArmy JROTC program will qualify the student for advancedplacement in a college ROTC program or accelerated promotion inthe military service.
