Category 1 leads to Olympic level participation and/or competition and the student must be enrolled in a private or commercially sponsored activity that includes at least 15 hours per week of highly intense, professionally supervised training. Students may be dismissed from school for one period. Category 2 requires that the student be enrolled in a private or commercially sponsored activity that includes at least 5 hours per week and the student may not be dismissed from school for any part of the school day. Applications must be submitted by the deadlines: May 15 for the fall semester or year and by December 15 for the spring semester only.
