Tomball Memorial High School – Debate IV

This course is a continuation of Debate III with emphasis upon refining the skill of writing debate briefs and competing as a member of the Interscholastic Speech and Debate Team. The purpose of this class is to learn the art of competitive speaking. The course will also include Extemporaneous Speaking and Oratorical speaking and writing. This course provides training for interscholastic competition, concentrating on intensive practice, criticism, and self‐evaluation. Since this course requires interscholastic competition on Fridays and Saturdays, only students who will commit to tournament participation should consider this course. See: Allowable Substitutions section of this document for additional courses which may satisfy the 0.5 credit requirement of Speech for graduation.
