Thurgood Marshall Middle School – Chorus 7

Students will continue the development of their vocal/choral skills. Literature and techniques are selected according to the developmental needs of the students. Repertoire is representative of various styles and cultures, and appropriate for the emerging and changing voices. Attendance at out-of-school rehearsals/ performances is a requirement for this class. Students in this course will be introduced to sight-reading in unison and 2-parts as outlined in the Maryland Choral Educators Association (MCEA) guidelines. Students will sight-read in unison and 2-parts. Participation and all follow-up activities in these rehearsals/performances will be factored into the grade. Choral groups are also required to participate in Performance Assessments. Materials: Teacher selected choral music, The Singing Musician Levels 1 and 2, MusicFirst Online Platform
Prerequisites: Chorus 6 or teacher placement
