In the first year of Chinese, communication and the sounds of the language are learned through dialogues, learning scenarios, repetition, practice exercises, and real-life situations (student performances). The students learn to understand, speak, read and write a limited amount of material. Students will learn the principles of Chinese writing and cultural information about China.
