This course expands on knowledge of ceramic processes to include handbuilding as well as wheel throwing. These ceramic processes of pottery are applicable to tableware, decorative, functional and nonfunctional form. Includes throwing, coiling, slab building and a variety of surface decorating techniques. Students will learn to create conceptual pieces using the medium clay. Over the course of a year, students will generate a completed ceramics portfolio showcasing all outlined skills. (Prerequisite: VA917O/VA917H Ceramics I)
