Eighth-grade students may take this year-long high school course and receive high school credit, pending the results of the course final exam. This course introduces students to Chinese and its culture. This class develops listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills, with emphasis placed on interpersonal communication and proficiency. Students acquire skills through real-world situations. Students develop an appreciation for how languages and cultures work by comparing Chinese culture to their own. Classes are conducted primarily in Chinese. Students learn on the Novice Low & Novice Mid-levels of language proficiency. At the end of the course, students receive one high school credit, pending results of the course final exam.

Prerequisites: Pass sixth grade ELA with a score of 3 or better
