Sunrise Mountain High School – Beginning Mariachi Harmony

This one-year course is designed for students with no previous Mariachi guitar/vihuela/guitarron experience. Areas of concentration include correct posture, note reading, aural skills, fl at picking, singing, rhythmic patterns, chord study, fi nger melody construction, musical forms, tablature notation, improvisation, and performing experiences. Instructional practices incorporate integration of diversity awareness including appreciation of all cultures and their important contributions to society. The appropriate use of technology is an integral part of this course. This course fulfi lls either one elective credit or one Arts/Humanities credit required for high school graduation and may be repeated.
