Sunrise Mountain High School – Guidance

This one-year course is designed to increase academic success among students identifi ed as at-risk by exhibiting at least one of the following characteristics: excessive absences, poor academic grades, low self-esteem, and/or multiple discipline referrals. This course can be taught in numerous ways to meet the state guideline of 120 hours of instruction. The class can be offered in one of the following ways: As a one-period elective during the regular school day. As a late- or early-bird class. As a combination class of after school and Saturdays with guided activities and documented seat time. As a one-on-one individualized class with guided activities, written/oral reports, and a contract. This course will fulfi ll one of the elective credits required for graduation. This class works in partnership with Communities and Schools.
