Sunrise Mountain High School – Drawing I

This one-year course is designed to give students a strong foundation for drawing through the study of basic drawing techniques and the use of a variety of media and subject matter. Students will participate in exercises in art appreciation and critique to learn to personally consider and evaluate art. Problem solving, creativity and originality will be cultivated through planning, art making and refl ection. The development and infl uence of drawing for communication and expression will be integrated into learning. Various styles and artists who have used drawing throughout history are introduced. Through collaboration and production, connections will be made between drawing and their academic studies, lives, and the world around them. Instructional practices incorporate integration of diversity awareness including appreciation of all cultures and their important contributions to society. The appropriate use of technology is an integral part of this course. This course fulfi lls one Arts/Humanities credit required for graduation.
