There is a fee associated with this class. Prerequisite: Must be at least 15 years old and have parent permission Students who won’t be 15 years old by the first day of school should not request first semester Driver’s Ed. If you’re requesting Driver’s Ed second semester, make sure you pick semester electives offered first semester. Students who won’t be 15 years old by mid-January should not plan to take Driver Ed their freshman year. The purpose of “Driver Education/Traffic Safety, Classroom and Lab” is to introduce students to the transportation system and to strategies, w h i c h w i l l d e v e l o p d r i v i n g k n o w l e d g e a n d s k i l l s , related to today’s and tomorrow’s motorized society and to provide an in-depth study of the scope and nature of accident problems and their solutions. Laboratory activities shall be offered concurrently with classroom instruction and may include, but not be limited to, use of electronic simulation equipment, off-street multiple car driving range, and on-street driving practice in a dual controlled car under the direction of an instructor.
