In this course students communicate a sense of4-D, motion, and/or time, based on creative useof spatial relationships and innovative treatmentof space and its components. Instruction mayinclude content in ceramics, pottery, or otherrelated media. Students address 4-D, theinterrelatedness of art and context, and mayalso include installation or collaborative works,virtual realities, light as a medium (i.e., natural,artificial, or reflective), or flexible, entered, oractivated space. Other concepts for explorationinclude tension, compression or expansion,intrusions or extrusions, grouping, proximity,containment, closure, contradiction, andcontinuity. Ceramic and/or pottery artistsexperiment with processes, techniques, andmedia, which may include, but are not limitedto, casting and kiln-firing techniques, and moldmaking.
