Apr 2026 · 2nd Semester
American Sign Language (ASL) is a language used by the majority of Deaf and hard of hearing people in the United States. By learning ASL, students gain access to the culture of Deaf America and insights into features of spoken language that are often taken for granted. This course provides a firm foundation in the language, linguistics, and culture of the Deaf Community. ASL is a visual language, and the students will learn to train their eyes to read it and use body movements and facial expressions in order to communicate effectively.
