This course helps students become skilled readers of literature and non-fiction across various periods, disciplines, genres, and rhetorical contexts. Students will learn to become skilled writers who can compose for a variety of purposes using various writing devices. Students will develop an awareness of the interactions among a writer's purposes, audience expectations, and subjects, and learn how language resources and generic conventions contribute to effective writing. Specific focus areas include reading poetry, prose, informational texts, reading across genres, and vocabulary.

This course aims to develop communication skills in the Portuguese language while fostering cultural awareness of Brazilian culture, geography, and history. Students will learn language development through vocabulary application, literacy skills for reading comprehension, composition strategies for writing in different contexts, and cultural awareness of Brazilian foods, holidays, festivals, and customs.

This course provides experiences utilizing problem solving and critical thinking to extend basic mathematical understanding and develop pre-algebra concepts. Students make connections between mathematics and real-world experiences. Students will learn about Number Sense, Operations, Algebraic Reasoning, Geometric Reasoning, Proportional Reasoning and Relationships, and Data Analysis and Probability. Specific topics include whole numbers, decimals, fractions, graphing, perimeter, equations and inequalities, number line, area, surface area, and volume.

This college-level course introduces students to a wide range of expository prose to broaden their scope of rhetorical ideas and awareness of the power of language. Students will learn to read analytically, formulate theories and arguments, and compose articulate essays utilizing advanced elements of sentence structure, syntax, style, purpose, and tone. The curriculum focuses on becoming critical thinkers who can revise and improve writing, critique peer essays, research relevant topics, and synthesize information from various sources using proper MLA or APA citations.

Students will learn to communicate in Spanish using the ¡Qué chevere! Levels 1-4 Carnegie Learning textbooks. Students are encouraged to use the target language during the entire class period and outside of the classroom to communicate with others.

The purpose of this course is for students to develop skills necessary to communicate in the Portuguese language and to develop cultural awareness and knowledge of Brazilian and Portuguese culture, geography, and history. Students will learn language development through vocabulary application, reading comprehension of passages containing familiar vocabulary and structure, writing strategies for various informational contexts, and cultural awareness of typical foods, major holidays, festivals, customs, and historical events.

This course covers high school English I and the AICE Thinking Skills curriculum. English I focuses on reading prose and poetry, literary elements, informational text structure, rhetoric, and comparative reading across genres. AICE Thinking Skills is a one-semester course divided into two components: Problem Solving, which has a math focus, and Critical Thinking, which has an argumentative focus. Students will learn to analyze themes, perspectives, and central ideas while developing daily writing and analytical skills to prepare for AICE exam Papers 1 and 2.

A Social Studies course covering United States history. Students will learn through class discussions, note-taking, and interaction with the subject matter. The course prepares students for a state-mandated End of Course (EOC) exam, and AP students have the option to test for college credit through the College Board.

This course focuses on physical activity, fitness testing, and health-related content. Students will learn and participate in warm-up routines, various sports activities, and classroom discussions. Key learning components include understanding sport rules, maintaining fitness logs (SLAMified Activities), and completing projects or labs related to fitness topics.
