Shadow Ridge High SchoolCollab

Mar 2026 · 2nd Semester

The fundamental purpose of the Mathematics I course is to formalize and extend the mathematics that students learned in the middle school mathematics. The critical areas of study deepen and extend understanding of linear relationships, in part by contrasting them with exponential phenomena, and in part by applying linear models to data that exhibit a linear trend. Mathematics I uses properties and theorems involving congruent figures to deepen and extend understanding of geometric knowledge from prior grades. This course will introduce students to theoretical knowledge as well as applications where through the Mathematical Practice Standards they will be able to transfer their knowledge towards problem solving. Students who successfully complete this course will be enrolled in Integrated Mathematics II. The Geometry course is designed to introduce the basic principles of geometry. Topics include geometric constructions with straight-edge and compass, points, planes, lines, theorems, postulates, congruence, similarity, triangles, inequalities, parallels, quadrilaterals, polygons, circles, coordinate geometry, transformations in the plane, and proofs including deductive reasoning.
