Are you curious about careers in the field of education? Thinking about becoming a teacher or working with children in another capacity? This is the course for you! Introduction to Educational Careers will cover growth and development of children, as well as the many careers available in education and child care. Students will learn through coursework, observation of children, and by job shadowing numerous careers in education and child care. Students who take this course will begin work on a career-ready credential and satisfy the prerequisite for Educational Careers and Advanced Educational Careers. Successful completion of this pathway will result in either a Child Development Associate Credential (CDA), which will qualify the student as a lead teacher in a preschool program upon graduation, or a Michigan Youth Development Associate Credential (MI-YDA), which will qualify the student for above-entry-level positions and pay in out-of-school day programs and daycare. Pursuing either credential will provide the student a myriad of experiences with children.
