Practicum in Education and Training (Ready, Set, Teach III & IV) is a field-based internship that provides students background knowledge of child and adolescent development as well as principles of effective teaching and training practices. Students will participate in an extended internship with a certified cooperating teacher in local elementary or middle schools. Students learn to plan and direct individualized instruction and group activities, prepare instructional materials, assist with record keeping, make physical arrangements, and complete other responsibilities of classroom teachers, trainers, paraprofessionals, or other educational personnel. Participants of the Teaching & Training program are guaranteed a job interview with LISD upon completing a teacher certification program. ● A single credit option is available in cases where there are scheduling conflicts. ● Students may engage in off-campus work-based learning experiences and work with the instructor to arrange logistics. ● There may be costs associated with taking this course. ● Industry-Based Certification available.
