Round Rock High School – American Sign Language ASL III

In ASL III, the emphasis is on further developing expressive and receptive skills to communicate in paragraph-length discourse. Students will learn to narrate events in different time frames, express opinions, and participate in extended conversations in ASL. Students will also deepen their understanding of Deaf culture, history, and community perspectives, while continuing to make connections between language and culture. The expected outcome of this course is to develop an Intermediate Low to Intermediate Mid proficiency. This course is conducted in ASL (without voice) for the majority of class time. PREREQUISITE: Successful completion of American Sign Language (ASL) level II or demonstrated equivalent proficiency as determined by the district.
