Round Rock High School – American Sign Language ASL II (Advanced)

In ASL II Advanced, the main emphasis is on refining expressive skills (signing) and strengthening receptive skills (understanding signing) through more complex conversations and contexts. Students will expand their ability to narrate, describe, and discuss a wider range of topics, while deepening their understanding of the structure and interrelationships of language. Cultural knowledge will also be broadened, with an emphasis on respectful engagement with and appreciation of the Deaf community. The expected outcome of this course is to develop Novice-High to Intermediate-Mid proficiency. This course is conducted primarily in ASL (without voice). PREREQUISITE: Successful completion of American Sign Language (ASL) level I or demonstrated equivalent proficiency as determined by the district.
