AP Research, the second course in the AP Capstoneexperience, allows students to deeply explore anacademic topic, problem, issue, or idea of individualinterest. Students design, plan, and implement ayearlong investigation to address a research question.Through this inquiry, they further the skills acquired inthe AP Seminar course by learning researchmethodology, employing ethical research practices,and accessing, analyzing, and synthesizinginformation.Students reflect on their skill development, documenttheir processes, and curate the artifacts of theirscholarly work through a process and reflectionportfolio. The course culminates in an academic paperof 4,0005,000 words (accompanied by aperformance, exhibit, or product where applicable) anda presentation with an oral defense.
