Chinese II continues to introduce students to the Mandarin Chineselanguage and culture. Students will further develop listening andspeaking skills with an increased emphasis on reading and writingSimplified Chinese characters. Students will demonstrate theirlanguage skills in the interpretive, interpersonal, and presentationalmodes of communication on topics expanded beyond the everydaylife of a student. Students will recognize the interrelationshipsbetween cultures by identifying products and practices tounderstand cultural perspectives of the Mandarin Chinese-speakingworld. The outcome for Chinese II is to develop Novice High toIntermediate Low proficiency. This course is conducted in Chinese fora significant amount of time.
