The AP Art and Design program consists of three different coursesand AP Portfolio Exams—AP 2-D Art and Design, AP 3-D Art andDesign, and AP Drawing-corresponding to college and universityfoundations courses. Students may choose to submit any or all ofthe AP Portfolio Exams.The AP Art and Design course framework is composed of courseskills, big ideas, essential questions and enduring understandings,learning objectives, and essential knowledge statements. Studentscreate a portfolio of work to demonstrate inquiry through art anddesign and development of materials, processes, and ideas overthe course of a year. Portfolios include works of art and design,process documentation, and written information about the workpresented.In May, students submit portfolios for evaluation based on specificcriteria, which include skillful synthesis of materials, processes, and ideasand sustained investigation through practice, experimentation, andrevision, guided by questions. Students may choose to submit any or allof the AP Portfolio Exams. Art supplies and fees may be required.
